Must-Watch Mathematics YouTube Channels

Since we enjoyed writing about our favorite math-inspired Twitters, we decided that for this week we'd write about some of our favorite YouTube channels with math related content. Keep reading to see who made the list.




Numberphile: This channel produces short films, including interviews and animations, that talk about lots of interesting numbers, mathematical theorems and more. The topics and presentation are accessible and interesting no matter your level of mathematical knowledge!

Khan Academy: With thousands of hours of how-to videos on math (as well as a number of other subjects) Khan academy is a great educational resource. With videos on statistics, algebra, calculus, and much more, you're sure to learn something!

eHowEducation: I'm sure many of you have used ehow.com to answer your questions, but have you also watched their YouTube channel? eHowEducation explains basic math concepts through high-quality and easy to comprehend videos. While you're there, make sure to check out their hundreds of other videos on astronomy, reading, and more!

yourteachermathhelp: This is the YouTube page for MATHhelp.com, a site which aims to teach math on many different levels through instructional videos, practice tests, and more. Their YouTube page is aimed at helping middle schoolers, high schoolers, and college students. Some of these videos include help with the SAT math section and the GRE math section.

Mathologer: If you love pop culture, then you will love this channel. Over here you can see television related videos about math, such as, "The Futurama Theorem" witch talks about the math behind a episode of Futurama. This channel really makes you think differently about some of your favorite TV shows.

patrickJMT: This former math teacher has over 1500 videos posted covering numerous subjects, all for free. He describes his channel as, "No songs, no dances, no silly hats, no low cut shirts and sultry voices. I make straight, to the point videos on how to tackle different math problems." So, if thats what you're looking for, check him out.

Math & Learning Videos 4 Kids: Have a little one in the family? Or are you teaching kids? Then this channel is great for you! Math & Learning Videos 4 Kids uses 3D animation to teach math concepts to toddlers and elementary students. They make math fun and exciting through their cute animations.

TED-Ed: This YouTube channel is an extension of TED's mission of spreading new ideas. On this channel, animators and educators collaborate to create fun and informative videos on subjects such as language, science, and of course mathematics. And with the TED brand, you know the videos have high-quality content.

Vi Hart: Run by Victoria Hart, child of mathematical sculptor George Hart, this channel is really fun and makes learning about math even more fun through art, music, and creativity. There's actually an entire playlist about edible math which teaches you math concepts through food. So if you're looking for a break from all the instructional math videos, head over to this channel for some much needed laughter.

Worldwide Center of Mathematics: You didn't think we would leave out our YouTube channel, right? Our channel has tons of instructional videos on higher level mathematics that will help you understand the concepts. We also feature lectures from respected mathematicians, offer standardized testing help, and even run some fun contests. So subscribe now!
